CHELEA YOUNKMAN
My name is Chelsea Younkman and I have been living in the Toledo
region for the last 30 years. I received both a Bachelor of Fine Arts along with a
Bachelor of Education with a concentration of the Visual Arts from the University of Toledo in 2009. In 2013 I graduated from Bowling Green State University where I
earned my Master of Fine Art degree in painting/drawing. My MFA thesis series “Job Fair”: a drawing series consisting of eight large-scale, charcoal drawings of men and women in business suits were displayed in Artprize 2013. Artprize is a national art competition, which is held every year in the downtown area of Grand Rapids MI. During the event a real estate developer bought the entire series for his new corporate offices in downtown Grand Rapids. One of the drawings is now hanging in the Grand Rapids Art Museum until October of 2014. Now I currently work at Adrian College and Bowling Green State University as an adjunct instructor. At Adrian I teach drawing from life to non-art majors and at BGSU I teach figure
drawing. I have a studio in downtown Toledo where I am currently working on a
new body of work. I am very thankful to have had these experiences and I am
looking forward to the future.
