At AC you will find the freedom to explore all the ways in which your skills, your talent & passions can communicate through art. The faculty in the art department are dedicated to working with you individually, to help you perfect your craft and grow as an artist.
How can you discover unlimited creative possibilities? By working with a group of people who are as passionate about art as you, who have the same goals as you, who are willing to work as hard as you to prepare for your future. After college, you have many career possibilities. You may decide to go to graduate school, become an art teacher, an art therapist, a museum curator or director. You may decide to work in one of the many career fields that need creative people. The skills you will learn, combined with your talents, will prepare you for a very wide variety of careers (take a look).
Our facilities are like a greenhouse for creativity and with 24 hours a day access for artists, its open whenever you want to create. Come in between classes, late at night, or on the weekend. Come in and work any time when you feel most inspired.
By exploring a variety of artistic disciplines, like graphic design, sculpture, photography, ceramics or painting you can discover the best areas to express your artistic passions. As your artistic talent grows, your individual style will emerge. Then you can fully celebrate your creativity by making in the discipline you love most.
The purpose of our program is to nurture our students in a supportive atmosphere so they will reach a point when they can discover their own artistic voices, their own unique styles. And at the same time the liberal arts environment helps students build awareness about their own lives and the world they live in.
The professors in the art department practice what we teach and we’ve all found success in our fields. We spend a lot of time making art, exhibiting, and continuing to learn about what's new in our fields. We’re passionate about what we do and we never stop learning and growing.
Our program, as a learning community, is unique because we’ve all been where you are now and we have a lot of experience on the paths to becoming successful artists. In our art program we begin with your talent and then bring it together with our knowledge and experience to help you reach your potential. The result is your growth as an artist, your success.

10. Live, Work, & Study in Adrian - Because there is always a lot happening on campus, it might seem like Adrian a quiet town. And this may be true, but there are museums, galleries, art communities, and many other resources and activities for artists just outside of Adrian. Ann Arbor, Toledo, and Detroit are major destinations for Art Faculty and Students. And after returning to Adrian from an out of town adventure, it feels like coming back to the comfort of home.
